Clare offers Forest School sessions for schools and community groups as a Level 3 Forest School Leader, using the outdoors as inspiration for a whole range of learning from storytelling to safe use of fires and survival to environmental art. These can be one off sessions or half day lessons once a week. Sessions focus on resilience, teamwork and positive mental attitudes as well as inspiring a love of the outdoors and wildlife knowledge.
"The Forest School sessions ran by Clare gave a whole new perspective on learning, using the natural world to teach the curriculum. Clare brought to the school her extensive scientific background and love of the environment. This combined with a huge desire to see children making a deep connection to nature through a wide range of practical and problem-solving activities helped the children understand how they could play their part and become more aware of how to protect the planet. Under Clare's guidance the children learned to be attuned with the natural world through "Forest School Yoga", have the opportunity to explore wildlife in the local woods and beaches, and challenge themselves to become more sustainable citizens. When I look back through all the planned activities that Clare provided at Blackawton Primary I find a wealth of learning experiences that benefitted and enhanced the curriculum as well as supported the staff in the school to take learning outside for the children."
